It's kickbacks and
thugs
and diverted water
Treaties get signed
And the papers
change hands
But they might as well draft
these agreements in sand

바람 잘 날 없는
저기 사막에는
얼마
안 되는 땅을 일구며
삶과 가정을 꾸려가는
소박한
사람들이
로마인들이 로마를 세울 생각조차
하기
전부터 그 땅에 살고 있었어
비록 초라하지만 강한 자부심으로
모여드는 구름 아래

뇌물과 악당 그리고 바뀌어 버린
물줄기를 말하는 거야
협정이 맺어지고
문서가 여러 사람을
거쳐도
그 계약은 모래 위에
쓴 거나
다름이 없어
영화에 보이는 순진한 원주민의 모습은
그가
나타나기 전에는
인디언의 미덕이었는데
소위
백인이라는 종족은
스스로 오명을 초래하고
있어
다 끝난 일이라 생각하겠지만
달라진
건 아무것도 없어
인디언 분쟁은
언제쯤
끝나게 될까
