Bruton Town
- Davy Graham -

Large As Life And Twice As Natural (1968)

In Bruton Town there lived a noble
Who had two sons and a daughter fair
By day and night they were contriving
To fill his sister's heart with care

A day of hunting was prepared
In shady grove where flowers grew
And there they did
that young man a murder
And in a grave his body threw

Now welcome home,
my two young brothers
Our servant man is he behind?
We've left him
where we've been a hunting
We've left him where no man can find

She went to bed lamenting crying
Lamenting for her own true love
She slept, she dream'd
She saw him by her
All covered with a gore of blood

She rose early the very next morning
Went to that place
where once they knew
And there she found his body lying
All covered with a gore of blood

Since my brothers were so cruel
To take you this little life away
One grave shall hold us both together
Along in death with you I'll stay
